Describe yourself in 3 words

Friendly, authentic, resourceful.

How do you juggle being a Mum and having a biz?

The juggle is my daily struggle. My beautiful little girls are 3 and 4-years-old and only attend preschool and occasional care a couple of days a week, so I’ve become an expert at cramming as much as physically possible into those two precious days. Plus, I do work most nights once they fall asleep. So every moment counts.

I started this business because I wanted to be there for my girls during their early years to do the drop-off/pick-up from school and attend all their school events. So if my business grows slowly because of that, I’m ok with it. Their happiness and wellbeing is what’s most important to me.

Tell us about your biz and WHY you do what you do

Two Green Rascals smoothies are made especially for busy women who have no time for themselves in the morning. They want to eat well, but they’re far too frantic rushing to get to work or getting the kids off to school – or both!

My goal is to make it easier for busy mums to start their day off with something nutritious. So we shop, chop and pre-portion a combination of fruit, veg and superfoods into individual cups and home-deliver a box of smoothie blends (frozen on dry ice) to be popped into the freezer. It’s simply a matter of emptying the ingredients into a blender, adding a cup of liquid and blending. There’s no prep, no mess and no waste – and you get a homemade, tasty smoothie, in less than 1 minute!

If you could go back in time and offer advice to your former entrepreneur-self what would you say?

I’d say find your like-minded business tribe as early as possible (Mums with Hustle‘s tribe has been incredible!). I didn’t realise when I first started out that women running small businesses are amazing at supporting, motivating and empowering other women in their business endeavours. When you collaborate with a ‘sista’ great things will happen. Also, seek out a business mentor in your industry who can give you experienced and unbiased advice to steer you in the right direction.

What does success mean to you?

For me, success is proving to myself (and my daughters) that it can be done. It’s about having a purpose, striving to achieve it and ultimately being a great role model for my girls. As TGRs is very much in the startup phase, it’s also about celebrating the wins (even small ones), showing-up, following through and most of all being happy doing it.

What has been your hardest lesson learned?

What I’m learning is not to compare myself with others. Constantly analysing what people are doing becomes exhausting and overwhelming. Compare yourself only to who you were yesterday, recognise what you’ve achieved and how far you’ve come. Set your own pace, believe in yourself and you will succeed.

Finish this sentence – If I wasn’t my own boss right now I’d be…

…sleeping more 🙂

What are you most proud of to date?

My proudest moments come from customer feedback… hearing the words “Wow, that is such a great idea!”, “I so need this…” or “your smoothie blends are amazing!”. It’s a great feeling when you can help another busy mum make their day a tiny bit easier.

Fun facts about you:

Facebook or Instagram? Instagram.
Favourite TV show? This is Us
Coffee or tea?  Coffee
Channing Tatum or Ryan Gosling?  Ryan Gosling

A random fact about yourself….

I’m slightly OCD.

Lisa Van Trump is mum to two beautiful girls, Harper and Taylor, who helped in the creation of Two Green Rascals smoothies. Lisa wanted to create something nutritious and yummy for all those mums out there who do everything for everyone else before they do anything for themselves.

After researching, speaking with farmers and local growers and consulting with an accredited and practising nutritionist and dietitian, Lisa decided to give it a go. She shopped, chopped and blended while Harper and Taylor taste-tested… a lot! Three blenders later, she had six smoothie blends she was proud to launch with. Today, Two Green Rascals delivers a daily dose of goodness straight to your door!
