Marketing Your E-Commerce Products on Instagram (Without Being Spammy)

A lot of entrepreneurs find it quite challenging to grow their e-commerce business on Instagram. This is why I really wanted to highlight today’s podcast guest because she is doing a beautiful job in marketing her e-commerce products on the Gram without being spammy.

Today’s guest is, Kate Patch, a Member of The Social Method Society, a mum of two, and the chaos coordinator and chief boss lady behind Heritage Blankets, an e-commerce business. She aspires to be more present and to take life as it comes whilst embracing the wild chaos and seasons motherhood brings. Often you will find Kate designing new baby blanket collections, crushing on floral prints and loving all things pretty.

During this episode, Kate is going to share how she has grown her e-commerce business on Instagram and what the deep relationships and friendships that she's made within the Social Method Society has made possible for her as a young mother in business.

Key Takeaways:

>> [0:30] Thank you so, so much for tuning into the Mums With Hustle Podcast each and every week. It is amazing to have such a vast community of women who are ambitious and heart centered.

>> [1:15] I have been reading some recent reviews and they absolutely light me up. Please keep reviewing the Mums With Hustle Podcast!

>> [2:48] It has been over a week since I’ve welcomed women into my marketing academy, The Social Method Society. Being in the group this week has been so incredible! If you missed out getting in the Social Method Society this intake, don’t be disappointed. The doors will open again in the future! Get on the waitlist now.

>> [5:00] Cue the excitement because today I'm sitting down with another Social Method Society member who is one hundred percent part of the Mums With Hustle movement. Today's guest is Kate Patch, a member of The Social Method Society and a mum of two, and the chaos coordinator and chief boss lady behind Heritage Blankets. She aspires to be more present and to take life as it comes whilst embracing the wild chaos and seasons motherhood brings. Often you will find Kate designing new baby blanket collections, crushing on floral prints and loving all things pretty.

>> [6:58] Kate has always been an entrepreneur at heart, and when she started her business as a bit of a side hustle, she decided to invest in her growth and her business.

>> [9:52] A lot of entrepreneurs find it quite challenging to grow their e-commerce business on Instagram. So how has Kate been approaching Instagram without seeming spammy?

How is Kate showing up on Instagram?

  • Kate didn’t realise how to use Instagram properly, so she invested in my flagship course Hashtag Hustle.
  • Now Kate uses Instagram as a connection point where she’s only trying to grow a community rather than sell to them.
  • Stop thinking about how to get people to engage with you and start thinking about how you can engage with them.

>> [14:40] Kate recently had a personal revelation that she shared so vulnerably inside of the Social Method Society. And I have asked her prior to this episode, if she’s open to sharing that revelation here on the podcast because it hit home for a lot of her Society Sisters. From sharing this revelation, Kate discovered she wasn’t alone and it was important for the other women to learn that they aren't alone either!! When we talk openly about our experience – even the less fun parts and the messy realities… it lifts any shame and makes way for growth!

>> [16:10] Kate had to realise where she was wasting time and how she could prioritise the most important tasks. She wasn’t able to step away from her business to also spend quality time with her family. There was a disconnection between how much time she was spending on her business and how much time she was spending on her phone. Now, Kate puts her phone away when she’s working.

>> [20:34] There was a time when I was doing a similar thing, so I moved my Instagram and Facebook app off of my home screen. I had to scroll to actually get into those apps. For anyone who feels overwhelmed by Facebook notifications, you can turn Facebook notifications off for groups.

>> [23:05] It is so important to foster relationships and friendships with other women in business. The Social Method Society Sisterhood is Kate’s place to come to for support and encouragement. She values the community so much because for a long time Kate felt very alone in the biz mum world!

>> [27:14] Kate’s first breakthrough was letting go of the small and hobbiest mindset. She no longer limits what she can achieve! The next breakthrough she had was that she is on her own entrepreneurial journey. She doesn’t need to compare herself or have a benchmark set by those around her.

>> [31:02] Part of the gift of having your own business is that you’re in control! We can speed up when you want to speed up and slow down when you want to slow down. Business doesn’t have to look a particular way, it just has to be in alignment with who you are and what you want.

>> [33:52] Kate would love for you to connect with her on Instagram. She’s also excited to be moving into wholesale, investing in branding and packaging!

>> [35:40] Coming up on the podcast next week, I’ve been putting together something special! It’s going to be a three part series all about when motherhood meets entrepreneurship.
