Focus on doing one thing, really, really well
This week we have the privilege of chatting to Heather Rowland from Kippins. The lady that has put a laser focus on doing one thing and doing it well – cotton comforters.
How exciting! Heather and her husband run this thriving business that was born out of Heather’s crazy pregnancy dreams and fears of “never being able to sleep well again” once baby number one arrived. Well, it’s safe to say that Heather’s creative dreams have helped many children (and their parents) get their much-needed rest with the help of her organic, on trend, comforter friends – the Kippins. From the get go, Heather was in it for the long haul. That meant, not rushing any part of the process, especially in those beginning stages. If you’ve ever wondered about how to successfully launch a product with the intention of wholesaling and entering the overseas market, then be prepared to slow down and put the ground work in. Heather’s philosophy is to focus in on doing one thing, and doing it well. That focus will ensure that you don’t become distracted along the way.
Sometimes it’s best to say no and do one thing exceptionally well, making you the go-to brand for that item and the authority in that space. Single attention and attention to detail are some of the keys to success and is a re-occurring theme throughout this podcast. We talk a lot about branding, particularly the limitations of branding purely on platforms such as Instagram.
