Strategies to help with self doubt
Happy New Year mamas and welcome back to another year of awesome podcasts! Kicking things off in 2016 is yours truly, with my first solo podcast, on a topic that an overwhelming amount of you voted for via social media. You asked and I’m delivering so here it goes. My strategies to help with doubt!
Today’s podcast is about self-doubt and I plan on sharing with you some advice that has helped me, and continues to help me, manage myself and my mindset, when doubt creeps in.
So, self doubt has massive effect on our ability to thrive. It can be really damaging on our capacity to be creative, expand, challenge, grow, rethink and act as mums in business.
- What is doubt?
- What is making you doubtful? and What are you doubting?
- Is doubt a bad thing?
- My advice dealing with doubt
My doubt crushing strategy
Overarching these next few bits of advice is that you need to accept accept self doubt as a reality. You will doubt everything and this is a natural thing!
This is my process to help overcome my self doubt:
- Don’t fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others – Looking at what others do will only hold you back. Assess your own situation and remind yourself why you started and courage to move forward.
- Remind yourself of why you started – By doing this, you will realise your purpose again and regain confidence in yourself.
- What would your advice be if it was happening to your best friend – Remove yourself from the situation and pretend it was happening to your best friend. What advice would you give them? In most cases, you will be supportive and honest.
- Surround yourself with people that support and challenge you – Find that person you feel always works their way though self doubt in a way you feel inspires you.
- Ask yourself these important questions to ground yourself and make more logical decisions and not emotional ones.
- What are you doubting?
- What is preventing you from taking action? Be specific.
- What would it look like if you did it and it failed
- What would your life look like if you didn't do it at all
- Which one would you fear more?
- What would it look like if it succeeded, your best case scenario? Visualize it.
